Driving In My Car Craft step 1

Using a shoe box (or similar rectangular box you may have lying around the house), cut 2 flaps loose, fold them into each other, and then glue them in place. See above and our finished example for reference.

Step 2 – Paint:

Driving In My Car Craft step 2

Start painting the car’s body (shoe box) and wheels (bottle caps). Remember – it doesn’t have to be perfect. Empower your kids to try their own colors and designs!

Step 3 – The Wheels:

Once your 4 wheels are dry, glue them onto the bottom sides of the box.

Your last remaining bottle cap will act as your stirring wheel. First, fold and glue your 2 pipe cleaners to each side of the bottle cap. Then glue your finished stirring wheel inside the car.

Step 4 – Drive!

Ride and rhyme along with fireman Eep in our new video, “Fire Engine, Fire Engine“, and then try crafting your own fire truck following the simple instructions below!

The finished result is a fun playtime toy, but also doubles as a stylish tissue box – so it’ll come in handy for putting out those emergency runny noses!

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

Fire Engine, Fire Engine Craft materials

  • Colored felt or construction paper
  • Tissue box
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1 – Start Cutting:

Fire Engine, Fire Engine Craft step 1

Referencing ours above, start cutting out your fire truck’s accessories: the wheels, lights, etc. It doesn’t have to be perfect! Encourage the kids to get creative here by mixing up the colors and designs!

Step 2 – Glue It All Together:

Fire Engine, Fire Engine Craft step 2

Time to glue everything together! Start by surrounding your tissue box in red. We used a glue gun for our felt, but you can alternatively go simpler with construction paper and regular glue!

Step 3 – Let It Dry:

You’re all done! Let it all dry, and then find the perfect spot for your new fire truck. We placed ours next to fireman Eep!

‘Wheels on the Bus’ Craft and Sing-Along Activity https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/wheels-on-the-bus-craft-and-sing-along-activity/ Wed, 01 May 2019 15:00:38 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=7179 Make Your Own Wheels on the Bus

This “Wheels on the Bus” craft turns one of our most beloved nursery rhyme videos into an educational household activity. When you’re all finished, you’ll be able to recreate the rhyme and fun scenes in your own living room!

Pretend-play has tremendous benefits for creativity and imagination, and the crafting process will also help develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Plus, it’s super fun – so let’s get rolling!

Materials:

  • Large cardboard box
  • White, yellow and black construction paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons
  • 4 paper plates

Steps:

  1. Cut off the bottom flaps of the cardboard box.
  2. Fold down the cardboard box’s top flaps.
  3. Glue on white construction paper for the windows.
  4. Cut and glue on yellow construction paper circles for the headlights.
  5. Cut and glue on black construction paper rectangles for the wipers.
  6. Color and glue on paper plates for the wheels.

Now that your bus is ready to roll, it’s time to play! Encourage kids to sing along with the video, mimic the hand motions and role play. Activities like this one can inspire memorable (and funny!) bonding moments for the whole family.
