For this recipe you’ll need:

• Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes
• Chocolate and vanilla frosting
• Vanilla wafer cookies
• Assorted candies for ears and bows
• Food coloring
• A pint sized glass
• A knife
• A spoon
• Spatula
• Scissors
• Gallon and sandwich sized bag

Eep the Mouse cupcake:

Add one teaspoon of blue food coloring to store-bought vanilla frosting and whisk, or add to homemade butter cream frosting.

Make a piping bag. Put one corner of a gallon sized plastic bag down in the bottom of your cup and fold the bag open over the edges. Scoop in your blue frosting until the bag is full. Lift your bag out, squeeze out the air and zip the bag shut.

Squeeze the frosting down to the bottom corner of the bag, and then snip off the end.

Starting from the edge of the cupcake, frost gently in a spiral motion until you reach the cupcake’s center.

To make the face, prepare two piping bags: one with black frosting, and one with white.

Using black frosting, draw little eyebrows, eyes, a nose and a mouth on your vanilla wafer cookie. Use white frosting to add a little sparkle to his eye.

Place your cookie in the center of your cupcake.

To make the ears, cut a chocolate circle in half and place them.

Trace over the chocolate with blue frosting, and finish with two blue candies.

Mother Goose Club’s Teddy Bear cupcake:

Use a chocolate cupcake.

Make a piping bag with chocolate frosting, frost starting at the edge and work your way to the center.

Place the cookie face and chocolate circle ears. Trace over the ears with chocolate frosting.

For Teddy’s special bow, add two blue candy-covered chocolates.

Baa Baa Sheep cupcake:

Use a vanilla cupcake. Add eight drops of red, and two drops of blue to vanilla frosting to get the right color. Make a piping bag.

Make a series of dots with pink frosting around the edge of the cupcake.

Using your spoon, smear each dot towards the center of the cupcake.

Make a second circle of dots, just like the first in the center.

Add the cookie face and two purple chocolate-covered candies for ears.

Mother Goose Club Concert Collab With Baa Baa! https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/mother-goose-club-concert-with-baa-baa/ Sun, 23 Jun 2019 19:25:37 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=10776 Mother Goose Club Concert With Baa Baa

We recently joined our friends Mozart for Munchkins for a concert and meet-and-greet with Baa Baa Sheep, played by Ivy! Mozart for Munchkins’ concerts always deliver a terrific blend of music education, interactivity and, most importantly, family fun. And this one was no exception! It was the perfect setting for Mother Goose Club to hold its first live show collaboration.

The concert began with a few classical pieces performed by Hilary and Sara, the co-founders of Mozart for Munchkins. Each piece was introduced with relatable childhood topics, such as animals, weather patterns and colors. Families were invited to participate with props, such as light scarfs to flutter, maracas to shake and bubbles to blow and chase, in order to keep the kids engaged and active!

With the crowd warmed up, it was time for Baa Baa Sheep to take the stage! Baa Baa started with a performance of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, encouraging all the kids to dance with “twinkling hands” while they sang along. Sara provided a Mozart interlude while Baa Baa danced on stage and encouraged the kids to mimic her movements. Next was a boisterous take on “The Wheels on the Bus”, during which the kids were given balls to play with while singing along.

Mozart for Munchkins concludes each concert with an instrument petting zoo, allowing the kids to get up close and personal with the instruments. During this time, the kids also got to meet and interact with Baa Baa, exchanging hugs and photos, and participating in our board book giveaway. Baa Baa even spent the last few minutes of the event partaking in the instrument petting zoo herself, trying her hand at the violin and ukulele!

The event was a delightful blend of Mozart for Munchkins’ mission to bring classical music to life for kids, and Mother Goose Club’s mission to bring joyful learning to families!

Thanks so much for sharing! We’re always inspired when fans send us Mother Goose Club art!

A post shared by Mother Goose Club (@mothergooseclub) on

We’re humbled knowing children around the world love spending time singing, dancing and learning with these colorful, full-of-heart characters. And we’re thrilled to finally offer plush dolls for your children to play with and love.

All six plush dolls are designed to inspire imaginative play. They come in cheerful packaging with a character-personalized side panel. Your child will love and recognize the bold colors, unique features and the soft fabrics we’ve chosen that are perfect for snuggling. Each plush doll is also easy to surface-wipe (because we know preschool play isn’t always mess-free).

Play is one of the most crucial child development activities. From our videos, app and books to these plush dolls, all of our products are expertly designed to engage your child’s imagination and develop their language skills through music, movement and play. When kids move and use all of their senses, it wakes up parts of their brain used for learning. In addition to boosting imagination and language, playing with plush is great for social-emotional development.

When you see your child hold, hug, drag, drool on, hide, crash, throw and (finally) snuggle up with these plush dolls, you’ll know they are doing some of their most important work (and loving it).

Make Your Own Jack B. Nimble Costume https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/make-your-own-jack-b-nimble-costume/ Sat, 27 Oct 2018 19:20:17 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=10523 Make Your Own Jack B. Nimble Costume

Is your child a fan of Jack B. Nimble? Bring Jack to life with this simple and affordable costume craft! Costumes can elevate your child’s pretend-play and involving them in the crafting process has tons of benefits. Projects like this help develop problem-solving and fine motor skills, creativity, imagination and artistic expression in children of all ages.

While making costumes, you can talk to your child about following directions (including what steps come first, next and last), help them count materials and talk about shapes. If your child is an early reader, you can also practice reading and comprehension skills by having them help read the instructions below.

Crafting time is bonding time – encourage discussion, questions and artistic liberties along the way. Remember – your finished product will only last so long, but the memories you create crafting will last a lifetime. Making a DIY Mother Goose Club costume is a great activity for super-fan birthdays, Halloween or dress-up!

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

Jack costume materials
  • Red and yellow t-shirt
  • Blue pants
  • Yellow socks
  • Felt: blue, gray, orange
  • Red and blue construction paper
  • Orange duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Glue
  • Marker
  • Pencil

Step 1: Jack’s Cape

Jack costume step 1

First, let’s make Jack’s signature red cape! Using your marker and the above image as a guide, draw lines to create the cape’s shape. Cut through the front and back of the shirt along lines 1 and 2. Then, cut through only the front side of the shirt for lines 3, 4 and 5.

Step 2: Jack’s Socks

Jack costume step 2

Wrap the orange duct tape around the socks, making sure to leave a small gap at the back. This gap ensures that the socks will still fit and not become uncomfortable as the day goes on.

Step 3: Jack’s Shorts

Jack costume step 3

Cut the bottoms off of the blue sweatpants, and fold a cuff to make Jack’s shorts. Aim to have the bottom of the cuffs reach just below the knee. Next, cut two pockets from the dark blue felt and glue them onto the pants.

Step 4: Jack’s Shirt

Jack costume step 4

To make Jack’s shirt, simply cut an orange felt shirt pocket, blue belt, and grey belt buckle. Glue these to the shirt, as shown above.

Steps 5-8: Jack’s Hair & Mask

Jack costume step 5

Cut a strip of orange tape to fit around the head. Then, cut your blue construction paper into strips, and attached them to the tape by pressing them next to each other onto the sticky side.

Jack costume step 6

Once the strips have been laid and attached on the tape, tape the end of the orange tape string together. Make sure the orange, non-sticky side is facing inward towards itself.

Jack costume step 7

Bring the ends of the blue strips together to where they are overlapping. Staple them together in the center.

Jack costume step 8

Cut a couple blue hair tips from the construction paper and glue them on top, as shown above. Finally, cut out Jack’s red mask from the red paper and glue it on top of the head as well.

Once everything is dry and set, it’s time to get dressed up!

Make Your Own Little Bo Peep Costume https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/make-your-own-little-bo-peep-costume/ Sat, 27 Oct 2018 19:20:14 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=10544 Make Your Own Bo Peep Costume

Is your child a fan of Little Bo Peep? Bring Bo Peep to life with this simple and affordable costume craft!

Bo Peep costume materials
  • Yellow t-shirt
  • Pink leggings
  • Yellow socks
  • Felt: orange, gold, dark pink
  • Dark pink yarn
  • Wide Headband
  • Orange ribbon
  • Orange duct tape
  • Cardboard tube
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step 1: Bo Peep’s Socks

Bo Peep costume step 1

Wrap the orange tape in stripes around the socks. Make sure to leave a decent gap at the back so that the socks can still stretch and aren’t uncomfortable to wear.

Step 2: Bo Peep’s Leggings

Bo Peep costume step 2

For Bo Peep’s leggings, start by cutting the bottoms off. Then fold them up to create a cuff. You want the leggings to end a couple inches below the knee, so cut and cuff accordingly! Cut some polka dots form the dark pink felt and glue them on. If you want, get creative with the number, size and arrangement of the polka dots!

Step 3: Bo Peep’s Skirt

Bo Peep costume step 3

Cut a long ribbon of orange felt to fit the waist of your special costume-wearer. Then, cut out some large orange petals and dark pink felt pockets. Glue your pockets onto the petals, and then the petals onto the ribbon!

Step 4: Bo Peep’s Shirt

Bo Peep costume step 4

Cut out Bo Peep’s collar from dark pink felt and three gold felt buttons. Glue these onto the shirt.

Steps 5-8: Bo Peep’s Crown & Headband

Bo Peep costume step 5

Cut your cardboard tube into three pieces. Now, cut out a crown-shaped strip of orange felt that’s long enough to wrap around the cardboard ring, and tall enough to fully conceal it. Glue the felt around the ring as pictured.

Bo Peep costume step 6

Glue and wrap the yarn around one of the remaining cardboard rings. Squish down the yarn-wrapped tube slightly, and place it inside the crown like a bun.

Bo Peep costume step 7

Wrap your headband in the yarn, as well! This is easiest and cleanest if you glue the yarn to one end of the headband, wrap it around, and glue it again on the other end.

Bo Peep costume step 8

Glue your finished crown to the top of the headband. Leave it slightly off-centered to give it the classic Bo Peep look.

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

Baa Baa costume materials
  • Pink hooded sweatshirt
  • Long sleeve light purple shirt
  • Dark purple leggings
  • Felt: pink, cream, light and dark purple
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Glue

Step 1: Baa Baa’s Sweatshirt

Baa Baa costume step 1

Cut the sleeves off the sweatshirt. Aim to cut about an inch away from the shoulder seams.

Step 2: Baa Baa’s Wool

Baa Baa costume step 2

Next, cut your pink felt into petals! These are going to act as Baa Baa’s wool. Glue the petals in straight rows across the sweatshirt, starting from the bottom. Try to keep the glue to just the top of the petals so that they create a more textured, ruffled look.

Step 3: Baa Baa’s Ears

Baa Baa costume step 3

It’s time to make Baa Baa’s ears! Cut the light purple felt into outer ears, and the pink felt into inner ears. Glue them together and glue the finished ears onto the hood of the sweatshirt

Step 4: Baa Baa’s Leggings

Baa Baa costume step 4

Finally, it’s time to make Baa Baa’s leggings. First, cut two stripes from the purple felt, about 1.5 inches thick. Cut a third stripe of dark purple, and a ruffly stripe of cream felt, and then glue them together as shown above. Glue and wrap the felt stripes around the leggings, but make sure to leave a gap at the back so they don’t bag up or cause any discomfort.

Mary costume materials

  • Dark pink apron
  • Light pink t-shirt
  • Blue sweatpants
  • Dark pink leggings
  • Yellow yarn
  • Headband
  • Felt: blue, light yellow, dark yellow
  • Pink duct tape
  • Red fabric paint
  • Sponge
  • Thin cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Plate
  • Marker
  • Glue

Step 1 – Mary’s Apron:

Mary costume step 1

Cut a star shape out of the thin cardboard. Lay the apron on a flat surface. Squeeze some red paint onto the plate. Use the cardboard stencil and sponge to paint star shapes onto the apron.

Step 2 – Apron Pockets and Buttons:

Mary costume step 2

Cut a big pocket shape out of the light yellow felt, a pocket top out of the blue felt, and a star shape and 3 buttons out of the dark yellow felt. Be sure to leave some extra blue felt for Mary’s pigtails!

After the red paint is dry, glue the yellow pocket to the front of the apron, glue the blue pocket top onto that, glue one dark yellow button onto the blue pocket top, and glue the other two dark yellow buttons where the apron straps meet the top of the apron.

Step 3 – Mary’s Shorts:

Mary costume step 3

Cut the bottoms off the blue sweatpants to make shorts leaving enough material to fold cuffs along the bottom of the cut-offs.

Step 4 – Mary’s Leggings:

Mary costume step 4

Cut strips of pink duct tape. Wrap them around the dark pink leggings to make stripes leaving a gap at the back to allow your child’s legs to move freely.

Step 5 – Mary’s Hair:

Mary costume step 5

Glue one end of the yellow yarn to an end of the headband. Don’t cut the yarn yet! Wrap the yarn around the headband all the way to the other end, gluing it down as needed. When the whole headband is covered, cut the yarn and glue down the new end.

Step 6 – Mary’s Pigtails:

Mary costume step 6

Measure a four-foot long piece of yarn and cut. Using this piece as a guide, cut 20 more pieces that length. Make two piles of 10 – one pile for each pigtail. Next, measure a six-inch long piece of yarn. Cut seven more pieces that length.

To make one pigtail, fold 10 long pieces of yarn around one side of the headband. Make sure they’re all lined up. Tie each pigtail into four sections using the six-inch pieces starting as close to the headband as possible.

Repeat with the remaining yarn pieces on the other side of the headband!

Step 7 – Mary’s Bows:

Mary costume step 7

With the remaining blue felt, cut out two bow shapes and two rectangles for hair ties. Glue one bow and one hair tie to each pigtail.

Wear It and Share It!

Once everything is dry and set, it’s time to get dressed up! Put on the leggings and the light pink shirt. Add the cut-off shorts and apron. The headband pigtails tops it all off!
