Jack and Jill (cartoon) – Nursery Rhymes https://mothergooseclub.com/videos/jack-and-jill-cartoon-nursery-rhymes/ Sat, 24 Jul 2021 20:54:43 +0000 https://mothergooseclub.com/?post_type=mgc_video&p=14745 Jack and Jill Lyrics:

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
And Jill came tumbling after.

Up Jack got and home did trot
As fast as he could caper,
And went to bed to mend his head
With vinegar and brown paper.

Jill came in and she did grin
To see Jack’s paper plaster.
She jumped for joy to see the boy
All healed from his disaster.

Jill and Jack they made a pact
To fix that road the next day.
They had the will to tame that hill,
And make a safer pathway.

With stones and sticks and mud and bricks
They built, with careful timing,
Steps to guide them up the side
The hill that they were climbing.

Jack and Jill they worked until
They put the final block on.
And there stood high a staircase wide
Enough for all to walk on.

Jack and Jill went up the hill
To fetch a pail of water.
The steps were good and so they could
Live happily ever after.

They fixed that hill so Jack and Jill
Lived happily ever after.
They fixed that hill so Jack and Jill
Lived happily ever after.

‘Brush Your Teeth’ Alligator Craft https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/brush-your-teeth-alligator-craft/ Fri, 08 May 2020 20:40:28 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=13306 'Brush Your Teeth' Alligator Craft

Strong dental hygiene is a must, but developing this habit can often be a major obstacle for young ones. Crafts are a fun way to engage children in developing positive habits and important new skills – try this one together by following the simple instructions below. Once your alligator is ready to go, practice the brushing motions while talking about the importance of making this a daily habit. Keep the craft in a visible spot around the house as a daily reminder!

For some additional reinforcement, follow along with Mary, Teddy and Jack in “Brush Your Teeth” as they use song and dance to teach the importance of brushing each night, especially after some late-night ice cream!

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

  • Cardboard (roughly 14” x 7”)
  • White lego pieces
  • Black sharpie
  • Toothbrush and floss
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Step 1 – Draw:

'Brush Your Teeth' Alligator Craft step 1

Referencing our example above, start by drawing the outline of your alligator on the cardboard.

Step 2 – Cut and Fold:

'Brush Your Teeth' Alligator Craft step 2

Parents should take the lead for the cutting. And remember – it doesn’t have to be perfect. Feel free to approach your design differently, or even try making a different animal!

Follow these steps while referencing our example above:

  • Cut off the corners of the cardboard, along the diagonal lines we just drew. Then, cut along the curved lines and push the flaps out to create the alligator’s eyes.
  • Next, apply some glue in the middle section where we drew the dotted line (try to avoid going over the solid lines with the glue).
  • Fold the cardboard along the dotted line and apply some pressure. The glued area should stick together, leaving the flaps (mouth) free to move.

Step 3 – The Teeth!

'Brush Your Teeth' Alligator Craft step 3

Add in those pearly whites! Glue the lego blocks along the open mouth. Just the bottom can work well for this exercise, but if you have extra lego blocks and glue, fill out the top too.

Use colored markers to add some finishing touches – we drew in eyes and nostrils!

4 Videos That Encourage Healthy Habits https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/4-videos-that-encourage-healthy-habits/ Tue, 03 Mar 2020 16:00:16 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=8822 Developing healthy habits early in life can bring lifelong benefits, so it’s never too early to start enforcing positive daily routines. Mother Goose Club videos use the power of nursery rhymes, music and movement to educate and encourage positive behaviors.

Start with a small and simple task to build momentum and a sense of accomplishment. Encourage children to learn from their mistakes along the way. It’s also important to lead by example, so don’t forget to brush YOUR teeth too!

Try using the videos below to help strengthen and reinforce some of your family’s daily habits.

Bedtime Routine:

We know bedtime can be beyond frustrating, but what they say about routines is true – they can help make the process go a little smoother. Use this video as a signal bedtime is near, or to build familiarity and comfort. Have the kids follow along with Caralyn as she takes us through her routine and work up to accomplishing your own checklist each night.

Brushing Your Teeth:

This is often a major bedtime obstacle, but encouragement from your favorite characters and a fun song and dance can help keep those pearly whites clean. Follow along with Mary, Teddy and Jack as they teach the importance of brushing your teeth each night, especially after some late-night ice cream!

Practicing Good Manners:

Instilling good manners at an early age can have behavioral benefits that last well into adulthood. Start simple by teaching the importance of saying “please” and “thank you”. Mastering this habit can help children develop empathy, perspective and kindness.

Tidying Up:

Just like bedtime, it’s helpful to get each day started with a routine – even if it’s as quick and simple as tidying up the bedroom and making the bed. Eep, Baa Baa and Mary once again use song and dance to encourage kids to model this positive behavior.

Haunted House Halloween Craft https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/haunted-house-halloween-craft/ Mon, 21 Oct 2019 21:46:25 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=12140 Haunted House Halloween Craft

Our favorite fall holidays are right around the corner, and while the kids are inevitably more excited for Halloween than you are (or…not), the days leading up present valuable opportunities for some family bonding!

This haunted house craft is a great compliment to the usual pumpkin carving and Halloween decor plans. Pair this activity with our video, “A Haunted House on Halloween Night“, for a rhyme-filled, interactive and spooky time with your loved ones.

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

Haunted House Halloween Craft house materials

  • Construction paper or foam (Halloween colors!)
  • Orange paper cup
  • Orange and black pipe cleaners
  • Hole puncher
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Part 1 – The Spooky Tree:

Haunted House Halloween Craft tree step 1

  • Draw a diagonal line across your brown construction paper (see ours above). Then start cutting strips, about 1-inch across, up to the line.
  • Use your colored construction paper to cut out some fall leaves.

Haunted House Halloween Craft tree step 2

  • Flip the construction paper so that the strips are now at the top. Apply glue below the lowest point of the marked line, and slowly roll the paper into a cylinder.

Haunted House Craft tree final

  • Fold the slits down and out to create your tree branches. Give them some extra folds and twists to add some character!
  • Lastly, glue your colorful leaves on and lay some underneath.

Part 2 – The Haunted House & Jack-o’-Lantern:

Haunted House Craft house step 1

  • Cut out the mini jack-o’-lantern’s mouth, nose and eyes using your black construction paper.

Haunted House Craft house step 2

  • Now glue the mouth, nose and eyes onto your orange cup. Punch a hole on top of each side of the cup so you can apply the orange and black pipe cleaners (twist them together first).

Haunted House Craft house final

  • Using your remaining construction paper and our example above, cut and glue together your haunted house! We encourage the kids to get creative here with their own colors and design – let those imaginations run wild!

Green Smoothie for St. Patrick’s Day https://mothergooseclub.com/blog/green-smoothie-for-st-patricks-day/ Tue, 12 Mar 2019 15:08:26 +0000 http://www.mothergooseclub.com/?p=8959
Green Smoothie for St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Today I’m celebrating with a super easy green smoothie recipe (as well as my emerald green eye shadow, lime green nails and green cheetah print jacket – I’m ready)! It’s got a light and fresh flavor with some natural sweetness (not to mention a great green color to get you in the St. Paddy’s Day spirit). This recipe yields about one and a half servings, so adjust portions as needed!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt (I use Fage 2%)
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 overflowing handful of baby spinach
  • 1/2 honey crisp apple
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 1/2 cup to 1 cup ice to taste
  • Juice from 1/2 a lime squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • Honey to taste (optional)

Simply add all the ingredients to your blender (I recommend adding in the order listed especially if like mine, your blender isn’t the strongest). Add the ice after everything else is pretty well blended and save the sweetness for the end. Pour into a glass where you can enjoy the pretty light green color and use a straw or not. I love straws, but I know they’re not great for the planet, so I opt for stainless steel straws I can wash and reuse – talk about green living!

Smoothies are a great way to get your fruits and vegetables (with their fibrous skins) in for the day, and taking 15 minutes to handle the beautiful ingredients to whip up something yummy is a treat in and of itself.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
