For this recipe you’ll need:

• Vanilla and chocolate cupcakes
• Chocolate and vanilla frosting
• Vanilla wafer cookies
• Assorted candies for ears and bows
• Food coloring
• A pint sized glass
• A knife
• A spoon
• Spatula
• Scissors
• Gallon and sandwich sized bag

Eep the Mouse cupcake:

Add one teaspoon of blue food coloring to store-bought vanilla frosting and whisk, or add to homemade butter cream frosting.

Make a piping bag. Put one corner of a gallon sized plastic bag down in the bottom of your cup and fold the bag open over the edges. Scoop in your blue frosting until the bag is full. Lift your bag out, squeeze out the air and zip the bag shut.

Squeeze the frosting down to the bottom corner of the bag, and then snip off the end.

Starting from the edge of the cupcake, frost gently in a spiral motion until you reach the cupcake’s center.

To make the face, prepare two piping bags: one with black frosting, and one with white.

Using black frosting, draw little eyebrows, eyes, a nose and a mouth on your vanilla wafer cookie. Use white frosting to add a little sparkle to his eye.

Place your cookie in the center of your cupcake.

To make the ears, cut a chocolate circle in half and place them.

Trace over the chocolate with blue frosting, and finish with two blue candies.

Mother Goose Club’s Teddy Bear cupcake:

Use a chocolate cupcake.

Make a piping bag with chocolate frosting, frost starting at the edge and work your way to the center.

Place the cookie face and chocolate circle ears. Trace over the ears with chocolate frosting.

For Teddy’s special bow, add two blue candy-covered chocolates.

Baa Baa Sheep cupcake:

Use a vanilla cupcake. Add eight drops of red, and two drops of blue to vanilla frosting to get the right color. Make a piping bag.

Make a series of dots with pink frosting around the edge of the cupcake.

Using your spoon, smear each dot towards the center of the cupcake.

Make a second circle of dots, just like the first in the center.

Add the cookie face and two purple chocolate-covered candies for ears.

Is your child a fan of Teddy Bear? Bring Teddy to life with this simple and affordable costume craft! Costumes can elevate your child’s pretend-play and involving them in the crafting process has tons of benefits. Projects like this help develop problem-solving and fine motor skills, creativity, imagination and artistic expression in children of all ages.

While making costumes, you can talk to your child about following directions (including what steps come first, next and last), help them count materials and talk about shapes. If your child is an early reader, you can also practice reading and comprehension skills by having them help read the instructions below.

Crafting time is bonding time – encourage discussion, questions and artistic liberties along the way. Remember – your finished product will only last so long, but the memories you create crafting will last a lifetime. Making a DIY Mother Goose Club costume is a great activity for super-fan birthdays, Halloween or dress-up!

Materials:

All the materials you need are below. Most everything can be found around the house or at your local store. Get creative, improvise and let us know what works for you!

• Brown hooded sweatshirt
• Brown leggings or sweatpants
• Felt: brown, light brown, blue
• Scissors
• Glue

Step 1 – Teddy’s Leggings:

Cut two strips of light brown felt for each leg and glue them around the pants. Be sure to leave a gap at the back to let your child’s legs move freely!

Step 2 – Teddy’s Belly:

Cut an oval shape out of light brown felt and three brown stripes to go across it. Glue the belly onto the middle of the sweatshirt.

Step 3 – Teddy’s Ears and Bow Pt 1:

Cut a bow shape from the blue felt. For ears, cut two brown circles, and two slightly smaller light brown circles. Center and glue the light brown felt onto the dark brown. Once dry, cut a slit into each circle without passing through the center. Add glue near the slit on one side, overlap the felt and press and hold to make cone shapes!

Step 4 – Teddy’s Ears and Bow Pt 2:

Glue the ears and bow to the top of the hood.

Wear It and Share It!

Once everything is dry and set, it’s time to get dressed up! Be sure to pull up the hood of the sweatshirt so Teddy’s ears stand up tall.
